If the company file is opened in-

  • In server computer (Host)
  1. Open QuickBooks & Click on File on the top left. Further, click Close company on the menu.
  2. Click on File again & then on open or restore company.
  3. Now, click on the open or restore existing company option and select the company file you want to open.
  4. Don’t forget to open the file in multi-user mode.
  • In another computer (workstations connected to host)
  1. Start by closing QuickBooks on all computers connected to the host (Click on QuitQuickBooks)
  2. Open your company file on the host computer.
  3. Now, run the file in multi-user mode by clicking on the file and then switch to multi-user mode.

Solution 3-Change your user permission settings

  2. Find the folder carrying your company file.
  3.  Right-click on the folder and select properties.
  4.  A new window will come up, and you’ll see a security tab on top of it. Click on the account.
  5.  Now click on the Users option below ‘Group and username.’
  6.  You’ll see a set of permissions after clicking on Users. Allow all the permissions like Modify, read, write, List folder contents, Read & execute or click full control.
