How to add an EIN to existing QuickBooks Desktop Payroll

  1. Open QuickBooks, select Employees, and then click on Payroll.
  2. Now, use My Existing Payroll Service.
  3. Note: If you don’t see this option, follow the steps here “Use my existing payroll service option is not available.”
  4. After that choose Use Subscription Number XXXXXXX [ Payroll Subscription Version ] under Identify Subscription, If you don’t see your subscription in the list, select Other: I have an existing subscription and a Zip Code. And enter your information.
  5. Select Open, and then click Next.
  6. To add the Company EIN, click on Next button when Add Company Information window opens.
  7. Further, you may choose to Print or Return to QuickBooks Desktop.
  8. Note: The moment the Validating Payroll Subscription window opens, the service is added automatically.
  9. Make sure to verify the Service Key.
  10. Select Employees > My Payroll Service > Manage Service Keys.
  11. Finally, to display the new service key with an Active Status, select View option.
